Backyard living doesn’t get better than this. Make the most of your Tuff Shed building inside and out with this backyard hideaway project. We transformed an unused backyard corner behind a shed into a cozy hideaway, complete with café lights and a murphy bar. Follow along with our backyard improvement project from start to finish and find inspiration for an upgrade of your own.
Due to HOA regulations, our shed needed to be installed 6 feet away from the fence line. That left an overgrown space behind the building. Instead of only trimming the branches and spraying weeds, we worked on a total overhaul of the area, starting with removing the overgrown weeds and bushes. We painted a mural on the shed’s back wall and leveled the ground for extra-large paver stones to add character. We finished out the hideaway with cozy lighting and a fold-down murphy bar designed for entertaining.
You can follow along with the complete transformation below.

If you’ve got an empty area like this behind your Tuff Shed building, there are quite a few creative ways to use the space. Besides our hideaway design, some of our favorite ideas include a backyard movie theater, a reading nook, or an outdoor potting bench. We always say there are a million uses for our buildings. And it seems like that’s as true for the exterior as it is for the interior.
