Smile! Mariah’s Backyard Photo Studio

Sep 17, 2024 |  Building of the Month

Mariah Fortune (@mariahfortunephotography) is a photographer based in San Diego. After setting up a successful business, she was tired of paying costly photo studio rental fees or getting rained on outdoors.

That’s where Tuff Shed comes in.

A Pinterest post, a handy dad, and a trip to Home Depot.

Mariah was browsing Pinterest and found a picture of a backyard greenhouse. She texted it to her dad, asking if he could help her build her very own photography studio.

Papa Fortune instead recommended that they get a quality building from Tuff Shed. They went to Home Depot together to take a look at different models. Mariah ordered and had her 10×12’ TR-800 completed in just 3 days. “It was the perfect situation: exactly what I was looking for in the time frame I needed,” she said.

Her new Tuff Shed was a perfect fit for Mariah’s needs. She opted for a skylight for plenty of natural light for her photography. Her dad helped her finish it out with hardwood floors, electrical, insulation, drywall, paint, and crown molding. Air conditioning was also a must.

They even got a gazebo from a wholesale club to put against the side of the shed, which adds to the charm of the building. Mariah’s looking forward to hosting her bridal shower in the space, which they’ll convert to a bar for the event.

When we asked Mariah what her favorite thing about her shed was, she replied that, “You can customize it to any need.”

“You can customize it to any need.”

Mariah’s now empowered to do photoshoots in any weather. You can find her in her Tuff Shed taking photos of newborns, shooting portraits, doing photoshoots, and editing. And the best part is that she can do all those things on her own time, without the expensive studio fees.

What could a Tuff Shed empower you to do? Experiment with the online configurator to design the building perfect for your needs. It’s completely free and totally easy.

Seeing what the sheds look like in person is as easy as finding your nearest Home Depot so you can get a feel for all the spaces—and dream about how you’d use them.
