Matt and his wife downsized in their new home but lost valuable garage storage space. So along with a home remodel project, they added a new storage shed. Their new addition is now known as the “Matt Cave,” adding outdoor living space and tool storage.
After their kids moved out of their home, Matt and his wife decided they wanted a smaller home closer to the city. But the move from the Kansas City suburbs meant less storage space. As they renovated their new home, they chatted with their contractor about a new storage solution. While exploring options, Matt got an email from his Tuff Shed rep about a Weekend event at his local Home Depot. “Getting a shed from Tuff Shed was the perfect solution; we could customize it to fit our needs, and it would be far less expensive than using an additional contractor,” says Matt.
Their new storage shed is an 8×12 TR-700, small enough not to need a permit in their neighborhood. The new shed fits right in with windows, shutters, decorative door trim, and window boxes. “We wanted to make sure it didn’t look like an average shed,” says Matt, “And the online design tool was great for visualizing how it would look.”
Even better, the new shed has added some much-needed outdoor living space. Matt and his friends added the pergola and potting bench. He also had a team of landscapers help with the patio, flagstone steps, and brickwork. The final result is now fondly known as the ‘Matt Cave’. He completed the interior with electrical, a workbench, and flat screen TV.
Matt and his wife couldn’t be happier with the new space. “My wife has been joking that I’ve given more tours of our new shed than our new home,” laughs Matt. As for the design, his only regret is not building a larger shed.
